Biography

Madison Sanders is an undergraduate student from Cleveland, OH pursuing a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture at the University of Oregon. Prior to entering the landscape architecture program at the University of Oregon, her academic background began in geophysics and geomorphology, focusing on the physical changes to the landform brought about by human activity. She recognizes the power of human intervention within the landscape, and the intrinsic relationship that lies between people’s connections to place and their overall willingness to engage in place-based stewardship and advocacy.

Madison has a curiosity for alternative approaches to community engagement, specifically those that utilize the tools of design communication to uplift unique voices and stories in the landscape. She is interested in how design communication can contribute to community-driven change, specifically within the context of landscape architecture.
